Incredible snorkeling, breath-taking white sand beaches, mesmerizing crystal waters, delicious food, striking island views and nature.Just that.
But first, you have to get there:
How to get to Perhentian Islands
From Kuala Lumpur
Flights are so cheap, there’s no reason to take a long bus trip.
The nearest airport is located in Kota Bharu.
Kuala Terenganu airport can also be used, but is farther, if able to choose Kota Bharu is the best option.
Kuala Lumpur International Airport – Lapangan Terbang Antarabangsa Kuala Lumpur
Address: 64000 Sepang, Selangor, Malaysia
ERL: Express Rail Link connects the airport to the city center.Full schedule here: http://www.kliaekspres.com/plan-buy/schedule/
From Kota Bahru Airport
Sultan Ismail Petra Airport, Kota Bharu – Lapangan Terbang Sultan Ismail Petra
Address: Pengkalan Chepa, Kelantan, Kota Bharu, Malaysia
From Kota Bahru the next step will be one of the following:
1- By Bus + Boat or 2- By Taxi + Boat
1- Bus #639 costs rm 6 and takes about 1h40m.
Arriving in Kuala Besut you need go to Kuala Besut Jetty(the pier) and take the boat to Perhentian Islands.
See all info about the boat on “From Kuala Besut Jetty” below.
2-There’s a taxi stand in Kota Bahru airport, you can buy a package including taxi + the ferry boat over there.
Taxi ride will take an hour and cost rm 65 per taxi (we paid rm 32.5 because we were sharing with 2 more people who paid the other half).
See all info about the boat on “From kuala Besut Jetty” below.
Optionally you can buy only the taxi and later the ferry boat tickets at Kuala Besut, the price will be the same.
A great tip for budget travelers is to share the taxi with someone else, most of the tourists arriving on your flight will be going to Perhentian to.
We made 2 new friends that way! =]
From Kuala Besut Jetty (Kuala Besut Pier)
Timetable: 08:00, 10:00, 12:00 and 16:00 (both from Kuala Besut and Perhentians)
Ride will take 30-45 min and cost rm 70 return.
Single ticket can be bought (rm 35), there’s no savings there though.
Inform the driver about the beach you are going to and the boat will leave you there, no extra fee.
There’s a rm 5 marine park conservation fee per passenger.
