Guangzhou – The Old And The New – China

I’ve seen the change 10 years brought to this city. The mix of modernity and tradition, the fast track development.
I’ve seen its charm before Canton Tower and its charm after it.
The lights, the flavors, and the flowers.
The buildings, safe nights and colorful sunsets sitting above Baiyun Mountain.
My eyes are intimate with the corners and colors of Guangzhou.
After watching this video, maybe your eyes will want to see more too.😉

Chinese Fake Market – Guangzhou

There are hundreds of cheap markets spread around China, some are collections of fake goods, some are just extremely cheap.
Either way, they are basically a tourist attraction if you are interested in shopping.
Street food is always available on the surroundings, you’ll need some after all the walking.

For me they are a huge part of the China experience, I used to visit them more often in my first few time in China, it brings me good memories.

Having Lunch Inside A Buddhist Temple ! Guangzhou, China

I’ve been craving Chinese food for a while and visiting this place seemed like the perfect solution for it.
You may wonder how such craving is possible living in China, however, I live in a very westernized area and the Chinese food available near me is not vegan.
It is confirmed, this place is a gem to end that baozi(Chinese bun) craving and I find it’s also just perfect for tourists. You are able to visit a stunning temple and eat the local food in a great ambiance and atmosphere, all in one.
The beautiful temple is located near Beijing Road, a famous shopping street, it may be one more attraction for the combo if shopping is your cup of tea.
After the meal, a stroll around the Gold Buddha temple will bring you pure joy, and if lucky you’ll be around at the ceremony time and witness the beauty of it. This bit can’t be recorded, no problem though, have a look at the majestic and gigantic golden Buddhas for yourself and let us know how you feel. 😉

A Traditional Chinese Teahouse – Must Do In China – Guangzhou

The teahouse culture boomed in Song Dynasty and overcame restaurants in number during Ming Dynasty, nowadays it is as prosperous as the country, a symbol of Chinese culture.
If you are not in Guangzhou, don’t worry, teahouses are everywhere in China. They are a strong and beautiful tradition, one of my favorites to admire and participate.

Here addresses and extra info from everything you saw on the video:

Yuexiu Park – 越秀公园 and Yayuanxuan Teahouse – 雅韵轩
Address: 988 Jiefang North Road, Yuexiu, Guangzhou
GPS: 23.139282,113.265508 (copy and paste in map’s search bar for exact location)
Teahouse GPS: 23.137723,113.267484 (copy and paste in map’s search bar for exact location)
Address in Chinese: 广州市越秀区解放北路988号
Subway station: Yuexiu Park, line 2, exit B1
Website: www.yuexiupark-gz.com
Admission: free
Open from 6 am to 10 pm, teahouse from 11 am to 10 pm.

Home to the Five Rams Statue, the symbol of Guangzhou, the beautiful Yuexiu holds diverse points of interest and is an inside on real Chinese culture.
The park counts with 860,000 square, 3 artificial lakes, and the legendary Yuexiu Mountain and its 7 hills. It’s a perfect mixture of nature and culture due to the museums, monuments, towers, and other historical sites spread around its grounds.
From pedal boat fun to the ancient city wall from Ming Dynasty it’s a nice day out scaping the buzz of the city.

One of the attractions of the park is the stunning teahouse and vegetarian restaurant housed in a Ming Dynasty building.
The price is a little salty but the environment is just on point, perfect for a calm afternoon chatting while sipping delicious tea.
Cantonese style teahouses are especially appreciated outside China, serving Dim Sum apart from the tea is the main difference from other teahouses that focus only on tea.

It is really special to be able to participate in this kinds of activity, I really recommend it to anyone visiting China, it is a must do.

Staffless Markets Of China

There’s a bit of a “living in the future” feeling in China.
We resided in a few big Chinese cities and traveled to several others throughout the years, from skylines to QR codes the impression is there.
Many of the available techs were started or improved by the facilities WeChat and Alipay brought to the market. These are apps comprising a series of services in one, soon a whole video is coming on this subject to clarify it further.
The 24 hours convenience stores are handy for the metropolitan citizens who find themselves needing all sorts of things often on noncommercial times.
It is also cool to do things differently, something that hasn’t change for centuries and all the sudden a shift happens. Everyone likes to try new things, there’s this extra attractiveness to it.

Are there similar stores in your country? What are your thoughts on it? Let us know in the comments below!

Acupuncture : Traditional Chinese Medicine – Guangzhou, China

The famous alternative medicine technique practiced for thousands of years, a key component of traditional Chinese medicine, is the star of today’s video.
Usually used in combination with other treatments, the aim of acupuncture is to correct imbalances of energy in the body, it allows blocked Qi(life force) to flow.
While in the west many focus on pain relief when using this healing method, it’s actually a more complex art which balances the whole body energy, thus addressing a wider range of disorders from physical to emotional.
Very thin needles are inserted in specific points, sometimes they will be moved and stimulated by making them warm or by electric impulses, it is minimally invasive.
Disruption of Qi is believed to be the cause of any sickness, therefore acupuncture is indicated to prevent and treat all illness.
