1 Day In Macau !!!

Macau – 澳門, a former Portuguese colony that nowadays is an autonomous territory with separate political and economic system from Mainland China.
The Vegas of China is the gambling capital of the world with 7 times the revenue of “The Strip” in Las Vegas.
It didn’t develop as a major settlement until the Portuguese arrival in the 16th century. Remained under Portuguese control until 1999, thus being rich in history and offering an alluring mix of culture.
Curiously it drives on the left side unlike mainland China or Portugal but as neighbor Hong Kong.
Also holds the Macau Grand Prix, an important event that happens every November.
One of the fastest growing metropolitan areas in the world, amidst the world’s richest regions, and GDP per capita by purchasing power parity higher than any other country in the world.

Counting with an area of 3,700 square meters, the place is named this way since Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), due to the Leal Senado building that was then a meeting place for Chinese and Portuguese officials.
It is very special to read the signs with Portuguese and Chinese names side by side, I think it’s even nicer from our fellow Portuguese colony perspective.

1 Day In Macau !!!

The distinct architecture of the 47-storey building catches the eye of everyone passing by.
Opened in 2007 in front of the famous Casino Lisboa, it’s one of the tallest buildings in Macau.
We are not really into casinos but it seems like playing at least once is suitable for a complete experience of Macau.

The historical charm, the mix of cultures, it sure does the trick for me.
