How To Get To Koh Yao Yai from Phuket + First Views of The Island – Thailand

Time to explore a new Thai island! There we go Koh Yao Yai!
Expect all you need to know about the island soon, starting today let’s see how to get there:

How To Get To Koh Yao Yai from Phuket + First Views of The Island - Thailand

How To Get From Phuket To Koh Yao Yai

There’s no airport in Koh Yao Yai, after getting nearby the island the only way to access it is by boat.
The closest point is Phuket (Click here to see how to get to Phuket), we’ll be explaining how to transfer from Phuket to Koh Yao Yai step-by-step.
As you saw on the video there are 2 piers which can be used for this route. One is called Bang Rong Pier located on the northeast of the island and the other one is called Chianwanich located at the southeast of the island.
Phuket is the largest island in Thailand so save about 1 hour to go from your hotel to either of these piers, the best is asking your hotel how long it will take because if you are staying out of the main beaches time may differ. There’s no public transportation to access the piers, scheduling a taxi will be needed.
Bang Rong Pier pier counts with speed boat and private longtail boats only. Chianwanich Pier has speed boats and car ferry for those who can’t/don’t want to ride a speed boat or wishes to bring a car/motorbike together. Speed boat rides take about 40 min, the car ferry and longtail boat take 1 hour.
Here the boat timetable:

Boats from Phuket To Koh Yao Yai

 Speed BoatCar FerryLongtail Boat
Chianwanich Pier
(arrive at Loh Jark Pier)
- 10:00, 17:00 (there are more boats in between this times without accurate schedule)
- 200 baht per person
- 08:30, 10:00, 14:00
(no service on Fridays)
- 140 baht per person, 400 baht with car
X
Bang Rong Pier
(arrive at Klong Hia Pier)
- 07:40, 08:40, 09:15, 09:40, 10:30, 11:30, 12:30, 13:15, 14:30, 15:00, 16:00, 17:00, 17:30
- 300 baht per person
X- private, schedule up to you during day time
- 2000 baht per boat

Another thing to be considered is if your hotel in Koh Yao Yai offers the transfer, contact them beforehand and remember to specify the departure pier.
Is also important to check the location of your hotel because the final stops of the boats depend from where they departed, for example, from Bang Rong Pier pier they stop in Klong Hia Pier(unless you hire a private long tail that will leave you at your hotel) and Chianwanich pier will leave you at Loh Jark Pier in Koh Yao Yai.
As these boats can’t be booked with travel agents or hotels in town, information is scarce and often inaccurate. The only way to buy the tickets is in person at the piers which are located quite far away from the main hotel areas. Yet, there’s always available space in the boats and/or extra boats departing, don’t worry about staying without tickets (unless you’re bringing a car, then calling the pier in advance is advisable, help from a Thai speaker will be needed, phone: (087) 896 0756 or (087) 2720132.

We were welcomed by a new shade of blue to our eyes on the island sky, the masterpiece was completed with a touch of swinging coconut trees.
Sand down, sun up, what a wonderful world!💙

On our first and second time in Phuket we stay around Kata and Karon area, this time we wanted to explore a new area.
We chose Kamala due to its fame of an area preferred by locals, we had a short yet sweet stay in the busy beach.
In order to better explore Phuket, we suggest renting a motorbike or car to visit neighbor beaches, the views in between them and the uniqueness they bring are a must.

Guangzhou – The Old And The New – China

I’ve seen the change 10 years brought to this city. The mix of modernity and tradition, the fast track development.
I’ve seen its charm before Canton Tower and its charm after it.
The lights, the flavors, and the flowers.
The buildings, safe nights and colorful sunsets sitting above Baiyun Mountain.
My eyes are intimate with the corners and colors of Guangzhou.
After watching this video, maybe your eyes will want to see more too.😉

Is It Worth To Use The Kit Lens? Shot With Canon M50 in 4K

Imagine you just bought a Canon M series camera or you’ve been thinking about purchasing one. The next thought is on investing more money and deciding which lens to buy because people say all the time that kit lenses aren’t useful. Are they really?
As vloggers/filmmakers, we are traveling and visiting new places all the time and we use the kit lens a lot, that’s why we decided to make this video for you.

Is It Worth To Use The Kit Lens? Shot With Canon M50 in 4K

The kit lens 15-45 f3.5-63 has fast and quiet autofocus, is lightweight, a smooth manual focus ring, and can focus from a very close distance.
As the lenses are small, it’s easy to carry them around making it more likely to be unnoticeable by the crowds.
The center of the lens is very sharp with hard vignetting on the corners. When I’m recording a video or taking pictures, I keep that in mind to don’t let the subject fall much to the corners of the frame. Still, I can apply the rule of thirds to the shot and correct the vignetting during post-processing.

My best advice is to use the kit lens to shoot at its wide end angle of 15mm and aperture of F3.5. Try to place a foreground subject and thus get a blurred background, giving more depth to your shots and taking advantage out of the image quality at 15mm.
Avoid using the end zoom of the lens which tends to lose image quality and get darker shots at F6.3.
Remember to set a maximum ISO or try to manipulate it during the shoot, as if you go over 800 ISO you’ll probably get too much grain.

We have shot incredible videos and photos with the M50 + 15-45mm and we are impressed with the quality this small glass is able to deliver.
Remember that the most important thing on a video is the story behind it. If you are questioning yourself about being able to make it only with the kit lens, my answer is yes!
If you are willing/able to spend extra money on more expensive gear, go ahead.
But if you have doubts, I would suggest you to go out there and rock those shots with this little lens because I’m sure with a few tips to understand how to get the best out of your gear, you will make it!
Then get back here and let us know how it goes in the comments below.📸
